A Study in Hair
Sunday, November 11, 2001 - continued
Eventually, however, I started to get tired of the whole Southern Hair thing. So much work. So much hair spray. Besides, it could only get so big and, well, the Rachel was just starting to become popular what with this new show called Friends and all. It was time for the Perm to say good-bye. It was time to move on.

Summer 1994
(Yikes -- that's a George Micheal t-shirt I'm wearing there!)
At any rate, I attempted to grow the perm out. But it was hard. My hair still seemed fairly curly and it took some work to get it to look okay. But, I did like it. Even though it required a bit of effort. Still, it lead up perfectly to the ultimate Hair date in every woman's life. The "hair pinnacle" if you will.
Wedding Hair.

Wedding Hair, 1994
And all wedding hair (in my book) should be long so that it could be put up. I even did the whole ringlets thing. And, yes, bangs were "in" then. What can you do?

More of the Wedding, 1994 (because I can)
And, the good thing? Looking back on these images doesn't make me gag -- even if I did have bangs.
Actually, I still kind of like it.

It probably helped that I had these pearls sewn into the back (which made for a very interesting wedding night!).
Only, now that I have to move on, I have to admit the awful truth:
I didn't learn my lesson.
I got another perm.
Another. Perm.
I don't know what got into me. Why I did it or what motivated me. But I did. I once again permed my locks. I thought I looked better with curly hair (I thought it was more flattering on my chubby face). I only wish someone would have told me otherwise.
