2 Point Pizza?!
I have to give props to my book club for bringing out this Bagel Pizza recipe from Hungry Girl. The fact that these around around 75 calories A HALF is still slightly unbelievable to me. The fact that I could have an entire bagel smothered in sauce with some cheese, that was downright crazy. In fact, I had an extra half — and didn’t even feel guilty.
Now, obviously these aren’t a substitute for a traditional, cheesy pizza craving. But for a low-point snack (or dinner for that matter), I was really impressed. Here’s the recipe:

1 wedge The Laughing Cow cheese, Light Garlic & Herb
2 tbsp. canned tomato sauce
salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, onion powder; to taste
Directions: Zathura: A Space Adventure ipod
Slice bagel in half, and spread cheese wedge evenly over both halves. Season sauce to taste with salt, pepper and spices. Spread sauce over the cheese. Place bagel halves in the toaster oven and toast for about 5 minutes, until sauce is hot and bagel is crispy. (If you don’t have a toaster oven, you can pop ‘em in the oven at 450 degrees and cook until hot ‘n crispy.) If you like, season the tops as you would a regular slice. Now chew!

Alrighty. With that? I’m off to shop for the Turkey day groceries that are less Hungry Girl, Weight Watchers friendly…
I am so lucky.

Skiing
Tonight, I am back from my fourth or fifth dryland practice with my ski team. (And, honestly, using “my” in conjunction with “ski team” is still a foreign concept to me, but I’m a dues-paying member with skis. That technically makes me a member even if I don’t know how to skate ski yet — right?). But I digress.
So, tonight I’m back from practice and I just have to beam for a bit about how much I freaking love these people and these sessions. Everyone is so absolutely awesome. And patient — soooo patient with my not-knowing-what-I’m-doing ass. And spending an evening out pole hiking, running, bounding, core training and whatnot with awesome people is SO much more fun than anything else solo. Saturday’s workout was spectacular, too. We spent two hours pole hiking and doing other drills on the trails at a beautiful park and it was such a wonderful way to start a weekend which was made even more incredible by brunch following the workout at a teammates home where there was wild rice soup and pumpkin cookies.
Yes, pumpkin cookies.
Now that I’ve had a little distance from my last stint of employment, I think I can safely make some comments about the situation. I hesitated to talk about it prior because I don’t want to put too much online or come off as bitter or unfair to anyone. But now that I have time and space and some context, I think it is fair to come out and say that I was in a very unhealthy environment that wasn’t allowing me to be the person that I am. And when you are in that type of situation just gasping for air and trying to survive, you don’t have time for the little luxuries. The things that help you draw peace and perspective but don’t help you get your day job done or subscribe to what the bullies in your life may be dictating priority-wise.
So, as I begin my new career adventure at the new place (which has been really quite amazing if not a little overwhelming due to the size and scope of the organization that I now operate within), I’m finding time to bring back these little luxuries. The things that make me whole and “me”. Things like training and friendship and evenings spent bounding up hills and feeling like a dork as I attempt a “V2″.
I like my life. I’m glad to have it back.
(I’m also thinking I need to add a new Skiiing category to my blog entries. How fun is that??!!)A Bronx Tale divx

So lately, I’ve had a few things standing in my way between a perfect WW-week. And that, my friends, are some food discoveries that are truly worth sharing…
Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Edamame.

Don’t start. Just. Don’t.
And the Chocolate Mole’ Lara Bar

Mrs. Harris
? While a lot of people don’t like these not-sweet, kind of hippy-dippy, organic-tasting bars. But if you do like that sort of thing, you’ll LOVE these. They’re chocolately and spicy and beat the crap out of any granola bar.
Then we accidentally put a pint of Double Rainbow’s
Perfectly Pumpkin ice cream in our cart. That was bad. This is one of the most decadent and creamy ice creams I’ve ever had. Seriously.
Finally: Trader Joe’s now has Dark Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt. These things rock. I just had one for dessert. I’m also thinking of hoarding some boxes for holiday gifts.
So, there you go. Food will be my downfall. But at least I’m having fun. ;)Little Women hd

So, I’ve started attending some of the dryland training sessions the Birchwood X-Country Ski team has been hosting. The past two Monday nights have been good workouts — I feel like I’m learning a lot of the “lingo” and also getting a chance to work on strength, balance and core (although I had to skip tonight because I didn’t bring warm-enough gear for the suddenly chilly temps). But Saturday was the most fabulous-est. We met at Theo Wirth Park at 9:30 am and did pole hiking through the park with intervals and strength work thrown in. It was a beautiful fall day and trapesing around in the woods with buddies while also getting a good workout was so uber-fun. Loved it.
We have a team night at a local shop that is known for good fit and great gear. I’m looking forward to getting fitted for some skis. :)
Other news is pretty slim. I’ve been following WW again, sort of. I am down 1.5 lbs, so that’s good.
I also started my new gig right in the middle of a big relaunch of the site I work on so (while everyone says it isn’t always this way), I’ve actually been working quite a bit for the “new girl.” In fact, I logged 4.5 hours on Sunday. Eek. Should be good, though. I really dig the new environment, the team and the type of Web site I get to work on. Our main content is cooking and recipe related — why wouldn’t I love that?
Other than that, I’m just trying to enjoy what is left of Fall (can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than 20 days?!).
Oh, and I dressed up as Madonna (Desperately Seeking Susan era) for Halloween.

That was fun.
Toodles, kids. I need to go to bed so I can swim tomorrow morning.Passengers download The Accidental Husband film
